Alvalyn shares her four-part framework: Mission, Mindset, Mechanics, and Message, and provides a holistic approach to creating a sustainable independent service-based business. Where others focus on marketing or revenue generation, she begins with purpose and passion. No vain promises. Just what works.
About the Author
Alvalyn Lundgren established her creative business more than forty years ago and is still a working freelancer. Starting out as an illustrator, she discovered how much she didn't know about doing business, marketing, and working with clients. After several years of fits and starts she repositioned as a graphic designer and began acquiring business knowledge and skills. In 1994 she founded Alvalyn Creative, a consultancy providing brand strategy, brand architecture, visual design, and illustration solutions for businesses, organizations, publishers, and independent authors. She is the founder of the educational initiatives Freelance Road Trip (also a podcast), Occuprise Network, and Alvalyn Creative Academy. In addition to her design practice Alvalyn teaches part time with UCLA Extension and ArtCenter College of Design Extended Studies. She resides in southern California.
Early Reviews
Students in my creative business courses are using the strategies and frameworks I include in Freelancing By Design to craft how they price, position, and grow their freelance businesses:
Alvalyn helped immensely in developing a solid business structure for my creative work. Creativity generally comes easily, but taking the time to really think out and plan how to freelance effectively just does not seem to get focused on enough. Alvalyn’s expertise and knowledge of this area really showcased for me how to do this well.

I have found it incredibly valuable to learn the ins and outs of being a creativepreneur from Alvalyn as she has the first-hand experience and perspective of being a creativepreneur herself.
